Healthy aging

Social determinants of health refer to the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age that affect their health outcomes. These determinants can include factors such as access to healthcare, education, economic stability, social support, and the physical environment. When older adults live in poverty, their social determinants of health can be impacted in several ways.

Firstly, poverty can limit access to healthcare. Older adults living in poverty may not have the financial resources to seek regular medical checkups or treatments for chronic illnesses. As a result, they may be more likely to experience health problems that go untreated, leading to further health complications and a decline in overall well-being.
